Skábmagovat Filmfestival

Siida museum´s project worker Terhi Silenius is attending to the indigenous peoples’ film festival Skábmagovat that is arranged from January 27´th to January 31´th, 2010. The festival will take a place in Inari at Siida museum. In addition to Sámi cinema, Canada and Bolivia will be in the spotlight. From Canada, there is presented films from project Wapikoni Mobile, which has trained film-makers in the Aboriginal communities of the Quebec area. Bolivia will be represented by the indigenous Cinematography Education and Production Center CEFREC. For the youth there is also a work shop of film making. Project worker will make a video trailer for the festival of Samisk ungdom project that will be shown in auditoriums before the festival films.

Poroferia Winterfestival

The youth from Finland will participate with their project worker to Reindeer Feria from February 13´th to 14´th 2010 at Oulu Market Place. The event is mixture of Sámi and flamenco culture. In the program there is a Poro Feria Market and performances of flamenco and sámi cultures, Poro Feria Sprint, reindeer ride and some hand craft work shop´s. The Finnish group is planning to take a part of a one work shop. Everyone is going to do documenting of their participation to the festival. The project worker is making a video documentation of youth´s participation. There will also be some lectures of museum´s work presented by Arja Hartikainen, Tarmo Jomppanen and Sari Valkonen from Siida museum.
